The history of Le Querce del Vareglio
The Le Querce del Vareglio farmhouse, located in Canale nel Roero, was founded as an old farmhouse in the late 17th century. The property, once owned by a wealthy notary, was a well-organized and productive estate, nestled in an agricultural landscape with vineyards, cultivated fields, and livestock, following the model of self-sufficient Piedmontese farmhouses.
Over the centuries, Tenuta Vareglio has maintained its continuity as a farm, preserving brick vaults, wooden beams, and areas associated with agricultural and wine production, becoming an authentic example of historic rural architecture, not a modern reconstruction.
Farmhouse in the heart of Roero
The transformation into a farmhouse began in the early 2000s, with the restoration of the structure for hospitality, and a renovation between 2023 and 2024 enhanced the spaces while maintaining the original character of the farmhouse intact.
Today, the estate is managed by the Povero family, active in the winemaking sector between the Langhe and Roero regions, and continues to combine hospitality with agricultural production. Nestled in the Rocche del Roero landscape, the estate extends over 35 hectares, showcasing Piedmont's rural history and the evolution of more than three centuries of agricultural activity.
